Outline of R&D

Our ultimate goal is to build the world's preeminent integrated database, not by large-scale centralized integration but by federated or cooperative integration. To this end, we are investigating a new integration system by means of technologies based on RDF, which connects many independent databases such as domestic hub databases, including DDBJ and PDBj, and databases in various sectors of life science derived from the Database Integration Coordination Program. Development of technologies compatible with 'Big Data' is also a target of this project. This project is essential in order to build an ideal infrastructure for the future of life science.
