Outline of R&D

The PDBj (Protein Data Bank Japan) has developed and managed the three-dimensional structural database for biological macromolecules through international cooperation with RCSB-PDB and BMRB in USA, and PDBe in Europe. The database includes various experimental information from X-ray crystallography, NMR, electron microscopy, and X-ray small-angle scattering experiments. In addition, ontology, new data formats, user interfaces, derived databases and various services are developed for understanding of high-order biological functions through integration with other biological databases using semantic web technology.
